Our client at Wiedenfeld and Nicolson (part of the Orion Publishing Group), requested a 30 second video promo for the all new ‘In Their Own Words’ biography from the 70’s and 80’s stadium-rockers, Genesis.
The promo is to play in their pre-gig video on their ‘Turn it on Again’ world tour. The only problem being that we had three days to make it and a very tight budget.
Originally the promo was to be mute and one language but this soon changed to be audio included with the addition of German, Italian, French and a USA versions.
Genesis always rely an expansive visual element to their live performance and we had to create something which fulfilled both budget and quality remits in four language versions – a tall order.
Approach
Using the ‘Genesis – Chapter and Verse’ book jacket we chose to fly through a 3D space revealing album motifs, captions and the final book jacket with release date at the end. Photoshop and After Effects were used for the graphical elements while Adobe Audition was used for the sound design. All in-house.
The overall look and feel of the promo was approved by our client and the various territory marketers; the additional versions were made and delivered to Blink TV for insertion into the tour videos.
With pre-sales of 800,000 tickets for the European leg of the tour already, the Chapter and Verse book promo will be viewed by a lot of Genesis fans by the time the band hang up their guitars in October.
